The Ben Thomas Band is a trumpet led jazz ensemble which has been running for two years. During this time they have performed at many top festivals and venues throughout England and Wales, including Bath, Birmingham, Brecon, Bristol, Cardiff, Carmarthen, Hereford, Neath, Newport, Pontypool and Swansea. They are also currently recording a new CD.
Band leader Ben studied jazz at the Royal Welsh College Of Music And Drama and has been working professionally as a freelance trumpeter for three and a half years. He has performed with many top UK jazz stars such as Tony Levin and Gethin Liddington. Ben has also played at major concert venues and festivals in Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds, London, Manchester and Reading with many high profile pop groups.
The rhythm section is made up of the finest musicians currently on the Welsh jazz scene and includes Greg Evans on drums, Jon Goode on bass and Jim Barber on piano. The band has a large array of repertoire ranging from carefully selected mainstream to modern standards and imaginative originals.
