I got interested very quickly in Jazz / Big Band as my parents (Gordon & Nancy) were keen fans. In my last year of school I was playing a lot of gigs locally (Newport, Gwent, South Wales, UK.) and turned Pro. aged 18yrs.

I played many and varied gigs, far and world wide (cruises etc...) and eventually ended up in theatre in the West End of London.

I found that to make a good living in theatre, you ultimately end up playing the same show constantly. I found this too musically boring although the money was great ! )

I took up a full time teaching post with the Gwent Music Support Service which I thoroughly enjoy.

I now run two Big Bands, one adult, NEWPORT BIG BAND (semi pro), and one youth band, NEWPORT COUNTY BOROUGH YOUTH BIG BAND, and am involved with a lively Brass Band scene.
